How tall will you mow my lawn?
In central Illinois, our grass is predominantly cool-season grass. Although there are many types of cool season grasses, most prefer to be mowed tall – usually around 3.5″. So throughout the mowing season, we mow at 3.25″-4″. We typically do not mow shorter than this, as short grass can allow for weak roots, more weed germination, and more lawn diseases.
How much water should my lawn get?
Watering your lawn is best done with an irrigation system. Lawns typically require 1.5″-3″ of water per week. This is best done by watering 1-2 times per week. To find out how much water your system is producing, place a shallow can (ie a tuna can) in an area that receives water from your system. After 15 minutes of watering, check to see how much water has been collected.
Why does my landscape bed have weeds?
No landscape bed is 100% safe against weeds. Weed seeds can blow through the wind, and don’t require much to be able to root. When we install landscape fabric under landscaping, we do not guarantee their use against weeds. Fabrics mostly help to prevent rock from sinking into the ground. Over time, dirt will build up in landscape beds, making it easier for weeds to take root. It is important to understand that every landscape bed requires at least some maintenance. This may include pulling or spraying weeds as they pop up, or applying a pre-emergent down before new growth in the spring.
How often should I replace my mulch?
It all comes down to your preference, but we recommend replacing your mulch every 4-6 years and adding a fresh layer 1-2 times per year.

No, we do not. We recommend Ace of Blades Lawn Care. They can be found at https://www.aceofbladeslawncare.com/
